Surviving the Swine Flu By: Sharon Salyer ~Steve Wolfe got the swine flu in late February of 2011, he was 31 ~His twin brother, Mike Wolfe, got sick 36 hours later ~Steve said the cough made him feel like his ribs were cracking ~he was taken to a medical clinic and the clinic doctor quickly sent him to an isolation room ~by March 4 his lungs were barely functioning ~he had pneumonia caused by the flu ~Steve was put into a medically induced coma for 22 days ~on March 5, Mike was rushed by ambulance to the hospital ~he was put into ICU on life support ~Steve said Mike had refused to go to the hospital before that ~Steve was taken out of ICU on March 27 and put into the hospital’s rehabilitation center ~Steve had lost 77 pounds because of the illness ~Steve was discharged on March 31 but Mike was still in the hospital ~Mike’s kidneys failed and his heart stopped, the doctors could not save him ~Steve has been out of the hospital for two weeks and still has pain in his legs and ribs, he also gets short of breath very easily ~the doctors said it would take 3-4 weeks for him to get healthy again ~Nobody knows how these two men contracted the flu
